At little scholars we thrive on being an inclusive nursery and will work very closely with parents and outside agencies. We have a dedicated SENCo who has had training in all areas of working with children with additional needs.
We follow the send code of practice so that we are ensuring that we are giving the correct support to our family and children.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage within the nursery ensuring that each child is reaching their full potential in all areas. We create individual next steps for each child to ensure that they are ready for the next step in their nursery and school life. We follow a respectful care philosophy taking influences from a variety of theorist with Emmi Pickler being one of the main ones where we involve the children in what we are doing and respect their wishes as we would when talking to adults.
We support all children in the 7 areas of learning and we differentiate activities to ensure all children can learn and develop.
The seven areas of learning are spilt into two categories, prime areas and specific areas.
The prime areas are- Personal, social and emotional development, communication and language and physical development
The specific areas are- literacy, maths, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.
All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected.
